Basics & FAQ

What you need to know

We are anything but a typical hotel
In keeping with the nature of the area, the hall has a camping atmosphere. As a guest you should be comfortable with that.

Please check the mattress dimensions before booking as they vary greatly between caravans. If another place to sleep is available, you can also change your reservation on site (subject to availability and possible increases in price).

We recommend that you bring slippers (especially for the bathroom area).
What's included?
All prices include bed linen, towels, wi-fi and parking.

Not included in the price is the accommodation tax from the city of Bonn. The tax is about 6% and has to be paid on arrival.

From January 2023 on, our vegetarian breakfast is optional.

In the case of a longer stay, a change of linen and towels will be arranged.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served Monday to Friday between 7:30 and 10 am and on weekends and holidays between 8 and 11 am. Breakfast is always included. If you have to leave before 7:30 am, we can prepare fruit and a sweet snack to take away the evening before.

We provide a vegetarian breakfast: tea, coffee, bread, rolls, toast, crispbread, cheese platters, eggs, cucumbers, vegan spreads Nutella, jams, cornflakes, bircher muesli, orange juice, apples and yoghurt. We usually have soy milk; we can also provide gluten-free bread if you let us know in advance by email.

Arrival, departure and reception times
Our reception is open between 8 am and 11 pm.

Check-in time starts at 3 pm and ends at 11 pm, please check-out by 11 am. If you arrive before 3 pm, your luggage can be stored with us.

If a late arrival (after 11 pm) is expected, it is important that you contact us in advance by phone or e-mail so that you are not left standing in front of locked doors!

Between 11 pm and 7 am are the quiet times in our hall when we ask you to keep noise to a minimum.
Kitchen, food and drinks
For guests we have a microwave, kettle, fully automatic coffee machine and sink that can be used. Unfortunately we do not have an oven or hotplates for fire safety reasons.

In addition, we sell snacks and drinks at the reception and have an additional snack bar on our premises that is open in the afternoon. We ask you not to consume alcoholic beverages onsite that were not purchased from us; we offer a selection of beer and wine at the reception.

Restaurants and a supermarket are within walking distance.

Outdoor barbecues are usually possible and for a small price we can provide you with all the necessary equipment. All you need to bring with you is the food you want to cook (there is a supermarket within walking distance where you could buy this). As barbecues at BaseCamp are very popular and the demand is high, we ask you to let us know in advance if you wish to barbecue. We will be happy to send you information and prices.
Security
Smoking is not allowed inside the hall and in all rooms. We have sensitive fire detectors inside the rooms and there is a hefty fine from the city for falsely triggered fire alarms.

The indoor and outdoor areas are equipped with security cameras.

In emergencies outside reception hours you can reach us on +49 151 42855053

Protection of minors
In our hostel the German youth protection law (JuSchG) applies.

If you are 16 or 17 and want to stay at BaseCamp without a parent or guardian, you need a declaration of consent from your parents. Please fill in and sign the form and send it by mail or bring it with you on arrival. Without this we cannot let you stay overnight! Forms will be sent to you on request.

If you are 14 or 15, you need an adult accompanying you who is either directly related to you or assigned the duty of supervision by a direct relative. Please fill in the form and have it signed by all participants, then mail/send it to us or bring it with you on arrival. Please also remember that you or your companion will then have to identify yourself on site. Forms will be sent to you on request.

FAQ

Parking?
Parking spaces can be used free of charge, also for buses by arrangement and subject to availability.
Do the caravans have bathrooms, kitchens or heating?
No, they have none of these. Only one of the trains has its own washbasin in the compartment. There is a shared kitchenette for all guests on the gallery. There you find a microwave and an electric kettle. Heating is not necessary as the hall is heated in winter. The train outside is not available in winter. The bathrooms are centrally located in the hall.
What about Wheelchair access?
Unfortunately, our hall is only partially wheelchair-accessible. We have a wheelchair-accessible bathroom at ground level, but the cars and trains are usually only accessible without a wheelchair. However, people have already stayed with us with a helping person and/or if you can get out of the wheelchair for 1-2 meters. Our breakfast usually takes place on a gallery accessible only by a staircase, but breakfast in the hall area at ground level can be arranged with pleasure.
Dogs and other pets allowed?
Dogs and pets are allowed in our hall for visitors, but not for overnight stays. Besides the risk of noise at night (barking dogs wake up the whole hall), cleaning and safety aspects also play a role. What we offer for dog owners are is our TinyHouse, which stands directly in front of the hall. We rent the house from April to October, depending on the weather. An alternative for overnight guests with a dog is the neighbouring Hotel Bonnox (www.bonnox.de).
Where is each caravan located?
You can find a current map here. If you book well in advance, however, this is not guaranteed, as we still make adjustments to the positions of the vehicles from time to time. Check our virtual tour on our website too.
Is there Wifi?
WiFi is available free of charge inside and outside our hall.
Are long-term stays possible?
Uninterrupted long-term stays are rarely possible over several weeks at a time, because we often have events where overnight stays are not possible due to exclusive hall bookings. If you are looking for an alternative for these days, we can usually find a good solution.
How far in advance do I have to book?
It's difficult to say. In general, the more flexible you are in the type of accommodation or the period, the easier it is. The weekends, especially from spring to autumn, are often booked-out early. During the week depends strongly on whether large conferences and fairs are taking place in Bonn and the region. On request we can also put you on a waiting list.
Can I buy vouchers?
Yes, you can find offers here: Hostel > Offers > Vouchers.
